CLINICAL SUPERVISION

We are encouraging and supportive clinical supervisors who work hard to help supervisees be the best therapists, counsellors and professionals they can be. We are warm and friendly and create a safe and confidential space in which to discuss clients, seek support and information, problem-solve conflicts and dilemmas and explore any personal concerns or challenges you may be facing as a clinician or professional. We are encouraging and have a sense of humour, which we think is really important given the work we all do.

Supervisees have all benefited from our encouraging approach and found supervision to be valuable in many ways. It's important to have a supportive space as a therapist/professional, isn't it? We feel that we provide this through our high quality, skilled, and tailored clinical supervision.

  • WHO: We can provide both individual practitioners and other organisations with Clinical or Counselling Supervision Services. Supervision is extremely important in the psychotherapy and counselling professions for trainees, newly qualified practitioners and experienced and/or accredited therapists. We currently provide Clinical Supervision to both trainee and qualified/accredited therapists. We can also provide clinical supervision to non-therapists too e.g. those in support roles, teaching, wellbeing services etc. We can also offer supervision for supervisors and supervision for trainers/tutors in counselling and psychotherapy as one of our supervisors is also an accredited trainer/lecturer.  We also supervise therapists from a range of modalities, including cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, person-centred, integrative, coaching, psychology and more. Our supervisors are either COSCA or BABCP accredited and also hold professional membership with COSCA and BABCP.

  • WHERE: we have two clinical supervisors here: Alexandra and Liz. Alexandra can offer in-person appointments at her clinic in Glasgow city centre; online appointments to anyone in the UK (and beyond) and outdoor supervision where she lives in Argyll and Bute (Cardross/Helensburgh/Rhu areas). Liz can offer in-person appointments at our clinic in Glasgow city centre and online appointments to anyone in the UK (and beyond).

  • WHEN: supervsion can take place weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as-and-when you require. We understand that clinical practice can fluctuate and that some therapists also have more than one supervisor (some have a specialist supervisor for a specific client group), so we are flexible with the frequency of appointments. We are happy to discuss this with you at the Introductory Appointment. Appointments last 50 minutes. However, 1.5 sessions (75 minutes) and double sessions (1 hour 40 minutes) are also available.

  • FEES: our clinical supervision rates are much lower than our rates for psychotherapy and counselling, as we understand the importance of quality and consistent clinical supervision. Please see our rates below for individual supervision (per 50-minute appointment):

    * Introductory Appointment: £35
    * Student/Trainee: £50 (we also offer a discounted fee of £50 for your first year post-qualifying)
    * Qualified: £65
    * Supervision for Supervisors: £65
    * Supervision for Trainers/Lecturers: £65
    * Supervision Groups: £30 per person, per group
    * Supervision for Other Organisations: £75 per appointment; £300 per 2-hour group (based on a maximum of 6
       attending)
    *  Discounts for Room Users of Glasgow Therapy Rooms: we are delighted to announce that we offer discounted      individual clinical supervision for Registered Room Users at Glasgow Therapy Rooms. Discounts are available with Alexandra only. We offer a £5 discount for students/trainees and qualified/accredited therapists who also book our rooms. This discount does not apply to the initial  Introductory Appointment.

  • BOOKING/MORE INFORMATION: if you would like any more information about Alexandra and/or Liz, want more details about the clinical supervision we offer generally, have any questions or would like to book an initial appointment, please do get in touch. EATING DISORDERS AND BODY IMAGE SUPERVISION AND CONSULT GROUP

We also run a specific supervision and consult group for those working with eating disorders and/or body image concerns.

The Eating Disorder and Body Image Supervision and Consult Group offers a supportive, safe and confidential place to gain supervision, support and information/help/advice regarding your work with clients/patients experiencing eating disorders/disordered eating and/or body image presentations. It offers an encouraging space to discuss client/clinical work; receive support; explore challenges or stuckness around client work; discuss any personal concerns that working with clients may raise for you; get support for anything that might be influencing your work with clients; as well as discuss and get information about, for example, personal and professional development, CPD, reading, research and anything else you might like to bring to the group.

Groups are run in conjunction with Talking EDs: Eating Disorders Support Service Scotland (www.eatingdisorderscotland.co.uk

  • WHO: the group is for clinicians working clients/patients experiencing eating disorders/disordered eating and/or body image. The group will consist of counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and other professionals working therapeutically with this client group. All modalities are welcome. The group will be faciliated by Alexandra, an accredited psychotherapist,  qualified clinical supervisor and trainer/lecturer with over 23 years experience of working within the field of eating disorders.

  • WHEN: groups will take place on either a Monday or Thursday evening (we aim to alternate these so as many people as possible can attend) and run on a 6-weekly basis. We aim to have a maximum of 6 people attend groups. Groups will take place from 6pm-8pm and we will have a short comfort break around half-way. A group won't take place if there are less than 4 people attending that group. We hope to have the same group of participants attend each group although we understand that that might not always be the case (as not everyone will wish to attend every 6 weeks; some may have commitments that evening; or there may be other reasons someone cannot attend that week).

  • WHERE: groups take place online as we have people from all over the UK and other countries attending.
  • FEE: £30 per person, per 2-hour group.

  • BOOKING/MORE INFORMATION: if you would like more information about the Eating Disorder and Body Image Supervision and Consult Groups or would like to be added to the Mailing List for these and receive invites to upcoming groups, please get in Contact.

PRIVATE PRACTICE COACHING AND MENTORING

So many therapists and counsellors now are looking to set up their own private practice. Whether this be part-time or full-time, the number of therapists hoping to start their own practice is increasing because of the wide range of benefits it offers. Never before have we seen such demand for psychotherapy, counselling, psychology and mental health and wellbeing services.

While many therapists are excited at the prospect of starting their own practice, it can, however, feel daunting and lonely when deciding to go it alone. That is where Private Practice Coaching and Mentoring can help! Work with our experienced psychotherapist and clinical director, Alexandra, who has started her own various private practices, build up teams of affiliate clinicians, and who has helped others start, and build, their practices over time.

Coaching and mentoring offers you the space and time in which to bounce ideas around, discuss options, try out new things, chat about new ventures, gain some accountability, develop confidence and set goals that can help you get your practice off the ground. Session can be one-off, regular, as and when required or involve consistent check-ins over time. Whatever works for you is good for us too,  because, remember, building a practice does take time. Coaching and mentoring will offer you support and accountability at your pace, in line with your goals and aspirations. Sessions are friendly and encouraging and always with your goals and pace in mind.

  • WHO: coaching and mentoring is open to anyone looking for some support with private practice. Sessions will be offered by Alexandra, an accredited psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and accredited trainer with a background in psychology, training/lecturung, research, networking and small business.

  • WHEN: sessions can be as often or as ad-hoc as you wish. Alexandra will give you her appointment availability when you get in touch to book.
  • WHERE: sessions can take place either: online (so anyone from across the UK can access appointments); in-person at our clinic in Glasgow city centre; or there may be scope for outdoor sessions or coffee shop sessions where Alexandra lives in Argyll and Bute (Cardross/Helensburgh/Rhu areas). It is also possible for Alexandra to rent a room ad-hoc for sessions in this area too.

  • FEES:

        * Full session: £125 per 1-hour session.

MENOPAUSE CAFE

We also offer both Registered Room Users and members of the public access to our FREE Menopause Cafés. There's more information on Menopause Cafés below. We run, on a voluntary basis, Menopause Cafe Glasgow City Centre.

The Menopause Café movement started in Perth, Scotland and is now a registered charity in Scotland. Menopause Cafe has spread worldwide, with volunteers now hosting pop-up events in the UK, Bahrain, Mexico, USA, Austriaand India. The charity also organise anannual Menopause Festival, #FlushFest.

Rachel Weiss,founder of the Menopause Café charity, says, “The Menopause Café is for everyone who wants to talk about the menopause, to share their stories, experiences and questions - all made that little bit easier with tea and cake''.

Menopause Cafés are aimed at breaking down the stigma around menopause and increasing awareness of the impact of the menopause on those experiencing it, their family, friends and colleagues.

A Menopause Café is a discussion group and supportive space to chat about all things perimenopuase, menopause and postmenopause. It is open to all ages and genders: no talks, no experts,topics are chosen by participants.

What a Menopause Café is:

  • A discussion group. We don't set agendas - discussion topics emerge and are discussed by participants.
  • Accessible, respectful and confidential space. All journeys and related choices are different - we listen to each other with curiosity, aiming to understand, not necessarily agree.
  • Open to all regardless of age or gender
  • Not for profit. Cafes are not about selling things. They are about participants supporting each other. We don't charge for people to come and have a chat.
  • No intention to leading to any conclusion, product or course of action e.g. no speakers.
  • Impartial to the way ahead. Everyone's menopause is unique, so Cafes are supportibe spaces to help people to learn, to make sense of their journey or to consider options. They never promote a particualr product or course of action.
